Greece can be considered to be a synonym of the word ‘beach’ moreover when it involves an island such as Santorini. The most popular beaches on the island are:

Armeni…

…located below the spectacular settlement of Oia. It’s a quaint picturesque bay with its red and black rock sticking out from the waters. There is a diving centre, as well as traditional restaurants with local delicacies.

Baxedes…

…located in the northern part of Santorini, approximately 11km from Fira and is mainly covered with black volcanic sand. It has very strong winds. It is an ideal beach for surfing.

Red beach…

…Near Akrotiri, it is named the red beach as the colour of the sand and pebbles are red. The beach is semi-organised with sunbeds, umbrellas and a canteen.

White beach…

…similar to the red beach, its name is due to white rocks that surround the beach. The only way you can reach this beach is with a boat or kayak from either the red beach or Perissa.

Beach

Palia Kameni

Rhombus center

Palia Kameni is a very small beach in the northeast side of Palia Kamenis’ island. You can access it only by boat from ‘Athinio’ or ‘Fira’ (it is worth the effort). The whole island is the result of a volcanic eruption, captivating and wild with its black rocks. The water is very peculiar, it is quite warm and has a yellow-green colour due to the brimstone and the hot springs of the area.
